Your logbook is very important since you need it for every driving lesson (RSA 12 EDT) and it must accompany you to every lesson.
All of the notes from the ADI (assigned instructor) who assisted you with the earlier lessons and your personal development are contained in the notebook.
At the beginning of the first EDT class, the Learner receives the RSA 12 EDT driving logbook from the Approved Driving Instructor.
When all 12 EDT lessons have been completed, the ADI marks the appropriate area of the book to indicate completion and notes in the logbook whether or not the student meets each lesson’s goals and their level of competency.
Lessons that the ADI has directed are the only ones on which they can sign and comment. In the unlikely event that you decide to switch ADIs, the new ADI will not be able to sign on courses that you previously completed with the assistance of the prior ADI.
This guarantees that in the event of an occurrence, all ADIs will accept accountability for the lessons they impart.
Before getting a duplicate logbook from your ADI, you should report the loss of your RSA logbook to the Gardai.
Since there may be a lengthy waiting period to receive a duplicate logbook, it is important to make sure yours is stored securely as it is also a crucial document to earn your driver’s license.
